BREATHE
That's what I keep telling myself. I am calm now. USAirways finally got back on the phone at 6am to tell me I had been switched to today's flight. BUT, it was only 80 minutes before the scheduled departure, so I couldn't check in online. Because in good weather it takes me 45 minutes to get to the airport, I flew out the door. I don't even think my laptop had time to power down.

It was snowing VERY hard and the roads were all slush-covered. I won't tell you what I did to get to the airport in my normal 45 minutes. Dad just doesn't need to read that. However, halfway there I did learn that my flight was 20 minutes delayed, so that gave me a little breathing room. The security line was VERY long. But, somehow, miraculously, I was standing at my gate at 7:05. That's just about when they would have been boarding if the flight was on time.

When I reached the gate, I learned the flight had been pushed back even later to 8:25. The plane was sitting at the gate. So, that told us the problem was in Syracuse. Shortly after 8:30, we started boarding. This was a good sign! I was happy. Although, other passengers who had spoken with people in central NY had told me how bad the roads were. The hour-long drive to the college would be my next battle.

We were all tucked in our seats, ready to go, when the flight attendant announced something about snow and visibility and told us our flight was canceled. We were SO close!!! So, I spent the next couple of hours wandering from gate to special services to gate to ticket counter trying to get myself to NY. In the end, they really couldn't guarantee to get me there until Wednesday night. That's just a waste. So, I'm working remotely this week. The airline moved my itinerary to May without charge. My travel agent is working to cancel my hotel and car. The hotel was within the cancelation period, so I'm hoping they don't nail me with a night's stay. What a fun day it's been.

So, now I'm home, all toasty warm, getting ready for an all afternoon conference call with the client. Fun Fun!!! I hope your morning was more fun than mine!
