Derailment on the Finger Lakes Railroad
So, I was finally going to try an Italian restaurant that everyone's been raving about. It's across the street from the hotel - Nonna's Tratatoria or something. Well, I pulled up to a railroad crossing and there sat a train. I decided I could be patient until people started yelling at me! I knew there was a detour and that I could go around, but I was stubborn. I was going to wait for the train to pass. Well, apparently it wasn't going to pass because it derailed in the middle of the intersection. Must have been a minor derailment, because everything looked lined up to me. I could see that two of the cars along the sidewalk were uncoupled. So, I pulled into the hotel parking lot and set out on foot. Again, got yelled at. Someone screaming about downed wires. I saw no wires. He was standing 3 feet away on the other side. Why couldn't I just walk through?!?!? Again stubborn me. Well, they're not going to tell me what I can and can't do. I'll just skip dinner. That's the mature thing to do, right? I'm not acting childish at all am I.

Well, my hotel room looks right out on the derailment. So, I'll share the scene with you. The walkway was between the two black tanker cars behind the CN hopper car. By the way, the rental car of the week is that big, silver SUV on the right - the Nissan Xterra. So far, not a fan.
