WinePod
Do you remember about a year ago I put myself on the waiting list for a WinePod? If you forgot, here's a link to the post (scroll down to March 21st). Well, a couple of days ago I got notice that it's my turn to order if I still want one. Oh, I'm SO tempted. It would be SO much fun. But, it's a bit pricey. The WinePod alone is $3500. If I wanted the complete system, it would be $1500 more. And, if I wanted a beautiful French Oak barrel in which to age my wine, that would be another $359. It looks like it would cost about $1000 to make a batch of wine (the first batch's supplies are included in the prices above.) I'd get about 4 cases of wine - that's 48 bottles. Therefore, each bottle would cost me about $21. The grapes are Cabernet grapes flown in from Napa Valley. I'm sure I could probably find grapes cheaper than $700 for 15 gallons. But wouldn't that be so much fun to have my own mini winery. Hmmm....my tax refund was supposed to go towards my house, but wouldn't it be more fun to buy a winery!!! One problem - Mike tends to like White Wines. I like Reds. Doesn't look like they have an option for White Wines as they're selling Cab grapes. Although, Mike did have wine with our dinner last night - it was a team effort. I picked up some filet mignon from the IGA (they rarely have it so when I saw it I bought it). I cooked up some baked potatoes. Mike brought the salad fixin's and shrimp coctail and bread. We had an awesome meal served with a Petit Verdot from our trip to Virginia last year.
