Dinner...Anthony...Wow!
So, maybe you read my post from earlier today. I mentioned that I had a date. I also mentioned I wouldn't be eating dessert. I lied.
Anthony picked me up for dinner tonight around 6. He said he wanted to take me to dinner in Philly. I thought that was a bit elaborate for a weeknight, but didn't argue. He told me a friend of his told him about a grill on Chestnut Street. So, off we went. When we got past the intersection of Chestnut and Broad, we started looking for the restaurant. He claimed he didn't really know the name. So, I started searching...there was Olive Garden, Lucky Strike, then I looked left and spotted Fogo De Chao, the Brazilian Restaurant I had told him about back in December. It just opened three weeks ago. I was kind of bummed that we weren't going there. We drove around the block a couple of times, parked in a parking garage, and set out on foot to find the grill that we hadn't seen while driving. Before I knew it, Anthony was walking through the revolving door of Fogo De Chao!!! I couldn't believe it when he walked up to the hostess and mentioned reservations. The bugger surprised me! And, on top of that, it was all FREE. Apparently he e-mailed the restaurant back in December to see when they were opening. I guess he was one of 50 lucky people who received a complimentary dinner for two to celebrate the restaurant's opening. Everything except alcohol and the gratuity were included. So, we got it all...not there is much to choose from since it's all included in the meal. The salad bar, unlimited cheese bread, tons of meat, and lots of friendly servers. They'll even hunt down the type of meat you want and send the guy over to the table! Wow, that came out wrong. It's a Brazilian Steakhouse, not a strip joint. These men walk around the restaurant with skewers of 16 different cuts of meat and slice them onto your plate. Anyway, then we got dessert (not that I had room), but it was free! We also ordered capuccinos. The total, with tax was something like $119!
I haven't been surprised like that in I can't remember how long. It was so sweet. I can't wait for everyone to meet him. Some of you will be lucky enough to get the chance next weekend. He's escorting me to Kelly's wedding!
