Thursday
I have lots of things going through my head right now....not sure what I'm thinking. Julie and Kelly sent me e-mails this morning about my boredom. Kelly offered some tips that I plan to put into action as soon as I stop procastinating! I'm baking a cake right now and was inspired to make a couple of cards. Once that's done, I do plan to hit the bedroom.
Anyway, one of our Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends posted a sad narrative from a scrapbook store in Ohio that is closing it's doors. You all know I dream of owning my own store. Being an SU demonstrator feeds that need while reducing the cost of my overhead. It also allows me to make my own hours. Everything this scrapbook store owner said, is what I've either heard before or assumed. To sum it up, there is SO much product on the market that it's impossible to carry it all. Therefore, customers get frustrated when their local retailer doesn't carry everything. I know I've been frustrated. There was a time I flew to AZ just to buy my favorite paper line. I found a local store that carries some, but not the full line. They just don't have the room. Next, trends change quickly in the industry and the retailers can't afford to keep up. Plus, you need retail space AND classroom space. I've heard the owner of my local store complain about the same things in this article. So, I may never own a scrapbook store. But, I can be an SU demonstrator. So, maybe I've found my compromise.I also wanted to share with you a card I received in the mail. I love it when Kelly forgets her checkbook for my classes. Why? It means that a few days later I'll receive a lovely stamped card. I am in love with the card she made. She used one of my favorite, retired, stamp sets. I love the colors she chose and I just had to share it with you!
Well, I have one more card I want to make, I have to ice my cake, I have to write a list, then maybe I'll get started. But, darn, my soap operas are now on tv. Boy, do I need a job!
