Yard Sale
What a long, tiring, hot, but absolutely fun-packed and profitable weekend. Have you missed me? I spent the day on Friday putting the finishing touches on my yard sale pile and helping my parents set up. I can't believe how much stuff I pulled out in a relatively short period of time. I filled six tables all by myself and still had stuff lined up on the ground. I'm sure you're wondering how much I made! I brought in $435. Not bad for a morning, huh? I think the most expensive item I had was $35 (mom bought it). I had a couple of things for $10 or $20. But, the majority of my stuff was 25 cents. I sold lots of magazines for 10 cents each. All 60 or so rolls of ribbon went for 25 cents a piece. A woman bought my entire box of homemade cards (57 of them) for $35. I'm convinced she bought them to re-sell them. Maybe it'll be some advertising since my name and the SU logo is on the back of every single one - that's SU policy if you sell any cards using their copyrighted images.
I also had a workshop yesterday afternoon which was a lot of fun. I helped to inspire creativity in nine new friends. There were several there who had never stamped or scrapbooked before. That's the best! Sharing this craft/hobby with brand new people and watching them realize how fun and easy it is.
I thought I'd take a moment to share some inspiration with you. None of the cards below are my own, but I loved them. They were created by Stampin' Up! demonstrators around the country.
This first one was created by Ann Walker and uses the Just Like You stamp set. When you purchase this set, $2 from each sales goes to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Each year SU offers a set to benefit RMHC. One of my favorite customers bought this set yesterday.
And one more. This one was created by Tiffany Parsons. It is totally not my style, but it is ABSOLUTELY adorable.
I'm so lucky, as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, various samples (like these) are posted daily on the demonstrator portion of the SU website. I get lots of inspiration from these cards. In fact, one of the projects we made at my workshop yesterday was adapted from a sample posted a week or so ago on here.
So, back to my life...on my agenda today is relaxation and then maybe some cleaning. The yard sale is over. I have two weeks before my next in-home stamping class. But, I don't want to live in clutter any more. The next phase of my unemployment is organization. My goal - absolutely no clutter by September 22nd (at least on my first floor). No piles of "hidden" stuff on any of my staircases. Every article of clothing on my second floor will be sorted, folded, hung, or donated to the Salvation Army. Oh, and I want to clean and restain my front step. Whew.
By the way, wish me luck. I have two interviews scheduled for tomorrow. The first is at 11am in Cherry Hill at the hospital. I'm meeting with the CIO. The second interview is at 3pm and is a phone interview with a software company.
