New Career Search Strategy
So, today I decided to post my resume on monster.com as public to see if anyone local would hunt me down and interview me. So far, here's what I've gotten:
- Oracle Software - consulting position in the northeast. I actually called this one back because I don't want to close the door on the opportunity if nothing pans out locally. Funny thing - I have a friend who is interviewing with them and even has an offer. It was the same recruiter who contacted us both!!!
- Contract position in Wisconsin
- Contract position in New York City
- Consulting position nationwide
- A headhunter recruiting for a "Big 5 Firm" for consulting - that's what I do now

Apparently none of them can read the part of my resume that states I only want to travel 0 - 25% and that I'm not willing to relocate.

Therefore, my new career search strategy isn't working. However, it's nice to know that I have plenty of options to fall back on. Am I destined to be a consultant the rest of my life???

I don't know that anyone of value will find you on Monster (or CareerBuilder), but they can be good sources to search out jobs. Then, if your resume is uploaded, you can send it out with a click. Jeez, I sound like a commmercial.

Anyway, good luck on the search! Never any fun, but a necessary evil. Why can't perfect jobs just fall into our laps?
